MEP Rib-Lath is specially designed to allow flexibility in shape forming of complex structures. It is used extensively for suspending ceilings and partitions, structural encasement for fireproofing, refurbishment works, construction joints. INSTALLING: MEP Rib Lath 069 should be at right angles to steel supports, with the apex of the rib in contact with the support and every rib fastened by galvanized nails in case of timber supports, concrete nails for concrete structures, self-tapping screws for steel purling or galvanized wires for steel channels, etc. BENDING AND CUTTING: MEP Rib-Lath 069 can easily be cut into required sizes by hand shears. It also can be bent to form for different shapes according to site requirements. Should it happens that bending to right angles is required this can be attained by cutting the ribs and notched to facilitate this. CONNECTING AND JOINING: MEP Rib-Lath should be lapped at least 50 mm on the supports, then tie the ribs together by 1.50 mm galvanized wire. Should end laps come off between supports, at least the Rib Lath should be lapped about 100 mm with the ribs wired together with at least two wire ties position to each pair of overlapping areas.
This expanded mesh is manufactured from high quality galvanized sheet steel. It is strong and light, designed mainly as a background plaster reinforcement to minimize cracking for partitions and ceilings and easily be attached to timber framing joints or a light steel channel. Plaster work on metal lathing offers a smooth, hygienic, monolithic surface giving it complete access to decorating. FIXING INSTRUCTION: MEP Metal-Lath can be fixed to timber joints or steel channels. The long way of the mesh must always be fixed from support to support. For timber joints, use galvanized plasterera's nails or galvanized staples, for steel channels, use galvanized soft iron tying wires or tapping screws with washers to fix the metal lath. If sheets require to overlap, sheet ends should be overlapped by 50 mm (2") on bearers, and side laps should not be less than 25 mm (1"). All laps should be wired together at 150 ,, (6") intervals.
Angle Bead provides a straight-edge in forming an arris for plaster-work which resists chipping and cracking. Protects and reinforces the plaster at vulnerable areas and corners. The expanded metal wings provide a firm anchorage to both side of the arris. Essential on plaster column, the corners of which are particularly liable to damage both during and after building operations. CUTTING AND JOINING: It is easily cut into required length by fine tooth saw or hacksaw at the nose of the bead and the wings with tinmana's shears. To join two lengths together, a short length dowel made of galvanized wire is required to be inserted into the hallow of the bead and ensures continuity and true alignment of the nosing. FIXING: Fix the beam with plaster dabs or nails at 600 mm intervals on either side of the arris, and the wings of the bead are then pressed into plaster dabs. After the bead has been plumbed and squared the nose will determine the thickness of plaster for normal two-coat work.
